The Social Hierarchy of my Youth

My school social criteria- Mean girls

this picture isn’t exactly true but it did make me laugh!

Lets bisect my schools social ladder. Now I know this my sound a little bit harsh and judgemental and I don’t usually analyse peoples characters like this however, I really want you to see want my year is like and compare it to you own; I really want to know if it is just my year that consists of all the cocky people or if everyone’s school are sort of similar.

We have the popular Boys. The generally quite decent boys that are good looking and charming enough to have the prettiest of girls and still go for more then just looks. They are nice and don’t mind having to be partners with you when the teachers put you together. These are the also clever boys that gain all the top marks during mock week.

There are the normal girls, the sweet, moderately clever girls that don’t fancy everything that has a heartbeat. This is the group I would to consider me and my friends in.

The geeky girls who cant quite keep a conversation going as they are all so quiet and confined within their own little social group. Surprisingly these girls have more confidence behind a phone then in school, they pose for their ‘selfies’ like models however unfortunately don’t quite pull the look of; they are the girls that are still 5 years behind on society. Weirdly theses girls aren’t actually as clever as they look, most of them fail in their maths and English exams. I don’t actually know what they are doing?

I often hear about these girls talking about ‘never making the first move always waiting for the boy’ and someone I don’t know who, made a very harsh yet a little bit amusing joke. The nerdy girls said that you must ‘ wait for the boy to make the first move’ and someone else replied that ‘they would be waiting for a very long time’.

Sometimes when a girl on their table try a different hairstyle and someone says it looks nice, which it did, they suddenly think they are a Victoria secrets model and storm past you like you’re a peasant back in the middle ages gazing at you with that dirty looks. I’m just like WOW calm down; you hair looks nice you haven’t suddenly become a Cara Delavigne.

The creepy boys. The boys that really have nothing going for them, they are not clever, good looking, polite or nice to talk to, they are just there. These boy are the type that will announce to the whole class that they have just broke wind or spend forty five minutes picking at a spot. They think they are too good for the normal and nerdy girls, and think that the only person good enough for them is someone who looks like a Hollister model. When really they resemble the two hairy bikers, you must know what I mean.

Finally the worst off all: the Bimbos. The Here’s some background. I live on a nice street where nice people live, however unfortunately next to where I live there are a couple of unsightly council estates that contain some very rough characters. A couple of these characters attend my school and are in my year. Some of these people from the less fortunate areas are generally very nice and come from good homes, yet some are incredibly rude and cocky and quite frankly believe they are gods gift.

For example my year, of 72 pupils, is equally divided into two groups: the A half and the B half. The A half are for the more academic side of the year and the B half for the less academic. All the popular boys are all in my side of the year, the A half and all the bimbos are in the B. Now my problem with my school is for some unknown reason the bimbos, who are girls who aren’t clever nor pretty somehow believe they are automatically better then me. I was on my way to French and a girl with makeup like an umper-lumper with caterpillars on her eyebrows walked into my friend, who was turned around talking to another boy down the corridor. My friend all apologetic and embarrassed about not paying attention laughed and began picking up her book, which she dropped during the collision. Then the umper-lumper huffed ‘god’ as if she had just touched something sticky on the bottom of her shoe. My friend, which I should mention, only joined my school at the start of year nine and comes from a privileged background. She had been in private education for all her life apart from now when she signed up to joining my school. Whereas in comparison this girl comes from this rough, council estate and can barely count up to two. She’s that type of character in the classroom that will do anything to avoid class work and scowl at those who are. Acting like it’s a clever thing not to do your work and bad if you do. Why waste your time showing up for school if you cant is bothered to work? How’s that life choice going, failing all your GCSE and I’m sorry if I would like to gain a respectable education at the end of it. I mean don’t get me wrong, I am not an academic snob but I just cant bear it when people think their automatically better then someone else and are constantly looking down their nose at people. When they drop out of school with no education hopefully they will learn a bit of respect.Unfortunately, I have quite a lot of these cocky, ignorant people in my year and that’s just one table that makes up my year.

Watch the mean girls Social ladder!

As many of you may or maynot know, today is the day of the liberation of Auschwitz.

I know this is still a very delicate and deep subject considering the people who lived through and survived Auschwitz still have the heartbreaking memories that will forever live with them, however today of all days we must confront what happened all those years ago and learn from our mistakes. Today should not just be a day of sadness and remorse for all those innocent people who lost their lives unjustifyingly, it should also be a day the world brought an end to the suffering of innocent people and finally allowed people to believe and feel want they desire.

I have only learnt briefly about these terrible events during my history lesson, from reading the Anne Frank book, visits with the school and from my nan and her brothers opinions, although at this time they were only young children. I asked her at the time what she thought about that situation and she said, when the news was unveiled for the very first time the world just stood horrified. My nan’s mother was very unwell at the time and as a naive 12 year old girl my nan would run errands to the shop with her 3 other brothers. When they got there they learnt the news that had already shook the world: She was stunned at the graphic pictures of ‘skeletons in pajamas clutching young children in their arms’, children that were the same age covered the newspaper. She then believed every german was evil. Her dad who had left to defend his country was a Sergeant in the British army and was one of the very first men who walked through the Auschwitz premises after it had been discovered by the Americans. When he return, she said, he never came back the same.

Millions of people suffered and died because they had their own beliefs and wanted different things. The troops that found the holocaust suffered due to the inhuman actions that had taken place there. Most people are not born cruel and evil, so we must not judge a nation on one person’s action. We have not left the horrors of the holocaust behind; we still have to contend with situations like this everyday, especially recently. You would think that we could have used this terrible experience to learn that we cannot force people to think the same as we do. Unfortunately we haven’t. While we are forever horrified by the events of the Holocaust and we know not to forget what happened, we also add, too quickly, “But that will never happen again.” It is too easy to consign the terror and cruelty of that time to the past and to other people, while at the same time dehumanizing some “other” in the world. When compassion reigns and dehumanization only belongs as a horror story in history books, only then can we say that the lessons have been learned.

Today we must remember and honor those who lost their lives.ulr

The stress of freakin’ out!

Anxiety, it is scary but it shouldn’t stop your life. Anxiety is the dizziness of freedom.

Do you ever have those moments where the room begins to close in on you and you feel like everyone eyes are piercing through you; you feel like you stripped naked of any protection and left for others to tear away at you? Have you ever just freaked out? The panic smoothers you and steals all the air from your lungs. Your mind is racing and you lose control of your body. And you begin to panic.

Well don’t worry it’s normal. I honestly didn’t realise how common panic attacks were until one of my closest friends began experiencing them, and trust me they truly are scary, not only for me watching them but for the person battling them. One second my friend will be perfectly normal and the next she’ll be uncontrollably crying, makeup smeared all along her face and her hands trembling like she is attempting to shake it all off.

Then i began reading books i recieved for Christmas including ‘Where she went’ by Gayle Forman, and noticed that the boy also had panic attacks which is a lot like what happened to the main character the ‘Perks of being a Wallflower’, which I recommend you watch the movie. It gave me an insight on what it’s like when personally experiencing these panic attacks, the dizziness and the nausea. I understood that it isn’t something that you can just stop and tell to go away. It takes strength and determination to finally be the boss of your panic.

And again while in form (which is basically a class at 12 o’clock where all students from all years are put together to socialise) i was talking to a girl who said she also had to battle against panic attacks regularly, information that i never knew before. That’s when i realised they are more common than i thought. Originally when my friend first began having the attacks i thought she was just trying to gain attention, which probably sounds quite harsh, but then i began thinking; why would she want to be seen vigorously crying in the centre of the corridor, stared at and have to be escorted away by the school nurse, its just not the kind of attention you would want.

I asked how these panic attacks had began and she said it was due to the death of her nan just before Christmas which triggered it, which is understandable. But she is still having these attacks several weeks afterwards, which she claims is due to pre exam stress, which i can totally relate too. As the panic attacks began to come in the middle of mock exams and lessons she doesn’t like, all my friends began to think she was putting it on. Pretending. Unfortunately now she has lost some of her friends, which is not fair considering her condition is completely uncontrollable.

Being an incredibly laid back person, i didn’t really understand why you would worry about so many things that could never affect you, but if you are a person who worries a lot it is something that you have no control over; your mind just races and the next thing you know your bright red feeling like the room is closing in on you. Therefore, i thought considering i have successfully been able to glide through life, i decided to share my advice with her, which i am now going to share with you.

  • It is completely natural to get stressed, its better to be stressed then too laid back, so breath, concentrate on one thought and renew your state of mind. Think about something completely off topic, like how you do when you just watched a horror movie and are in bed in a dark room and think you are about to have the same fate as the main character in the movie. Try to think of every thought other than that horror movie to get to sleep. It’s the same. try to think of everything other then when you stress about.
  • A breath of fresh air always helps
  • Prepare not to panic- thats easier said than done, but if you know you’re about to panic remove yourself from the situation.
  • If you have fallen out with friends over the panic attack, try your best to never have a panic attack in front of them again. Stick it to them and show that you don’t need to rely on them for support, your fine on your own. Look at the bright side, during this period of your life you will be able to clearly recognize who your real friends are and who are just pretending. So i guess every cloud has a silver lining.

I have a video that makes me laugh every time, so if you feel the stress and anxiety building up inside of you, think of this video and remember my advice! When you have a panic attack you want your own space and people to get out your face, just like this guy! Hope you enjoy 🙂 and I hope one day you will be able to finally overcome the panic and get the better of you anxiety! Best of luck♥

Going from the boy next door to every girls crush.

Boy to a Man

Looks aren’t everything however they do affect a lot of things, especially when you’re a teenage boy battling through senior school. If you’re looking for a girlfriend or boyfriend it can be difficult to get people to notice you, impossible to get people to like you, particularly if you’re not someone who is none to being the high school heart throb.

I am about to write a blog based on my opinions and what i prefer- so in some cases i might be just giving my opinion not fact. However i do live with two teenager brothers, so i do have some kind of knowledge about what really turns the lads from being an ordinary joe blogs to prince charming; the boy that every girl will want to be seen with, the boy that every girl wants to be with, the boy that every girl wants!

Grooming. Firstly i need to clearly state this: nice hair is the absolute bomb. I apologise for the way i wrote that sentence however i felt it was the most powerful way to get my point across. Lads, don’t be afraid to be groom your hair, i mean don’t go Joey Essex on it, just comb it and give it a bit a style once in a while. A windswept style will melt every girl’s heart, even if you lack in everything else, nice hair makes any body irresistible in a girls eyes. You can never wear your hair greasy, it just doesn’t make you as approachable and makes you seem unclean. i should know about boys’ hair. There is this one guy in the year above my who is renown for his hair; all you have to say to somebody is ‘quiff’ and everyone will instantly know who your on about. His hair is amazing.

My next point many might find old fashioned but i believe it can turn any guy from a 0 to a 10. Manners are essential. I’m not on about using your p’s and q’s every time you interact with anyone, however that would be nice, i just mean hold a door open every once in a while, never ever burp and ask questions about others. This is the one factor i find irresistible and mature. Because at the end of the day, no one will want to go out with a person who acts their shoe size more than their age. They like mature, strong headed men that aren’t treated as a joke or doormat. By acting mature while in high school you seem so much more attractive as you seem like the higher side of the school.

Also this is less important but can have an affect on how others see you. Ankle bashers! Under no circumstances wear white socks unders your school trousers or any sort of trousers. it looks like you need to go back to year 1, it is more noticeable than you think.

Don’t be afraid to talk to people whether that physically or through text. we all know its easier to text but make sure you try to speak to the person. I not one known for popping up to people but i do often talk face to face with people that i dont usually talk to. An awkward moment was when a girl massaged my brother on facebook saying ‘hi, how are you?’, this was a girl at the time my brother didn’t like. so instead of telling the girl hew dint like her he decided to freak here out. he replied ‘ not very good, i’m really tired because every time i got to bed i cry myself to sleep rolling around in pictures of jeremy kyle, ( if you don’t know who he is a suggest you google him). she never messaged him again. i don’t recommend you do it like that i just think you should let the girl down gently.

When you do talk to someone make sure you use just to right amount of eye contact, especially if you have amazing eyes. i love it when your in a conversation with someone with really nice eyes and they make eye contact! Its one of those moments when everything freezes, cheesy i know!

I also suggest that when you swear (if you actually do) you do it moderately. I know swearing is quite common during high school which is fine, however when you do swear don’t every swear unnecessarly or when talking about someone! it makes you seem scary, irresponsible and immature.

If you are planning on flashing the top of your boxers that go around your hip, make sure there nice ones, not ones that your mom brought for you when you were eleven.

If your going to grow a beard do it it can look really nice on some boys and will make you seem mature however don’t leave a little goatee on the end of your chin, either grow one or don’t.

Use a nice aftershave– a boy that smells nice are the best. Soon people we be able to recognise you just by the scent you use.

Shower every day and make sure you have nice clear skin. I know spots are something you can not control but just put effort in to make the most of a bad situation. Having skin that is cared for is noticeable so invest some time into clearing up your skin. Acne is kind of off putting when you are trying a find a boyfriend or girlfriend.

And the most important factor that can make you attractive and mature is to treat people correctly.

I hope this has helped!!

Pretty Hurts- Behind every beautiful thing, there’s some kind of pain.

Being Pretty Hurts. has any one ever heard the song Pretty Hurts? It is a beautiful song performed by Beyonce however written by Sia. The lyrics and the video are both so powerful and show a dark side a being beautiful.

Everyone wants to be pretty, to be liked and have that attention, especially when in high school as the usually pretty girls are the most popular too. But this song powerfully illustrates the downside of being beautiful. The Hurt. The Pain.

There’s too much pressure on women to be beautiful from society, and this is why beyonce has produced this song. In the video Beyonce tries so hard to receive a trophy as the lyrics say ‘this time i’m gonna get the crown”, however at the end of the song she realises that it hasn’t given her the happiness she desired, and doesn’t make her feel beautiful. It makes her feel old and imperfect, and makes her want to change herself when there is nothing she can change. They are making her change little details that makes her unique, which is not only sad but physically impossible.

Perfection is a disease of a nation

Why do we want to be perfect? Why do we want to have the slim figure, all the proportional features and beautiful smile. We need to be our own kind of beautiful, and be proud of that.

It video shows that girls nowadays are being punished for something they have no control over, like aging and make the girls feel they need to starve themselves or get surgery to change it. And this often influences teenagers girls like us, making us think we need to starve ourselves and get surgery to be beautiful, which is truly criminally.

So as girls, especially during our teenage years as we are influence all the time by advertisements and celebrities, we need to stop wanting to be perfect and beautiful because its not the life you think it is. It is beauty its fake! Dont try to be someone else’s definition of beautiful, be your own. Because if someone doesn’t like your imperfections, someone else will.

Never rely on your beauty, because only one ending will come from your beauty pagent story: a never happy ending.

My Diary of photographs

Probably one of my favourite things, other than food and family, is Photographs.

Have a look and some of the amazing moments i have captured on a photograph and understand why photographs mean so much to me.

A camera is a mirror of a memory.

Have you ever wondered what you would do if you lost all of your photographs? Say unfortunately your house was caught in a fire and you lost every moment of your past. The thought of an entire period of your life suddenly disappearing without a trace scares me intensely. Honestly, I don’t take many selfies or pose for photos, i’m normally the one behind the camera, but even seeing pictures of family be destroyed tears my heart apart.Thats is the reason i always keep a picture of my family on my body. i believe you can store pictures on your phone or have them saved on social networking sites, but its never quite the same then as having a picture that you can physically touch.

When i was younger, my mom was always capturing, through video and photo, mine and my brother’s early childhood, and I love the the images sooo much! Sometimes when i find a video or photo that i don’t remember being taken, my whole family will gather around to catch a piece of our past; its often very funny, sometimes embarrassing and always causes many laughs.

Many people say you don’t need photos because you have a memory, but pictures help your memory recall all the fabulous times you have experienced. You can then show them to friends and distant family members and give it them as a way for them to remember you. They capture a bit of your very own history.

With a photo you can capture a moment, and have it forever. I think we take that idea for granted, with photography being so ubiquitous these days. But seriously just take a second to appreciate that as photos help us see the beauty in everyday and is the only real way we can capture emotion, other than through literature.

For my birthday I really want to get a Fujifilm Instax Mini. My friend has one and whenever she takes an image it immediately prints out so she can pin it above her bed. This would literally be amazing as would allow me to capture every magical moments and keep me forever in touch with my past.

Fingers cross!!!

So i have collected some of the photos i have taken, and would like to share with you. However i will not show any photos containing any of my family’s faces.  All these photos below are all photos i have taken when on holiday visiting some of amazing places. These photos feature beautiful landscapes from Portugal, Germany, St Kitts, Barbados, London, Cornwall and Dubai. I hope you enjoy!!!
